- Plant Manager The Structure: Job Summary: We are seeking a dedicated and experienced professional as Senior Engineer/ Assistant Manager on the role of Shift-In-charge, to oversee batch processes in our chemical manufacturing facility. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing shift operations & shift staff, conducting shift handovers, ensuring smooth and efficient production as per targets, maintaining high standards of safety and quality, while coordinating with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless operations. The role demands flexibility to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed.

Job Responsibilities: Shift Management: Supervise and coordinate all activities during assigned shifts, ensuring adherence to production schedules and operational protocols. To control all operating parameters of the batch/continuous reactors, distillation columns, for smooth running of the plant. To communicate with HOD, SI, Maintenance, Utilities for the plant performance & any abnormalities.

Interaction with Shift Engineer (utility) for utilities requirement. To raise the requirement of raw material & consumables as per production planning. To ensure raw material availability on daily basis as per requirement.

Coordinate with Production chemist & operator - contact SI for any problem. To monitor the steam /utilities parameter and take appropriate action as per requirement. Implementation of IMS. To make the work permits and get signed by concerned authorities.

To monitor and ensure the proper deployment of casual labourers. To give the Safety Talk to subordinates regarding plant related activities planned in the shift. To communicate the in process sample planning to IPQC to conduct the analysis system.

To organize the loading / unloading of products/RMs/Solvents supplied through road tankers Work closely & coordinate with other departments, including R&D;, maintenance, quality control and quality assurance, to ensure seamless production operations.

Batch Process Oversight: Monitor and control batch processes, ensuring optimal performance and compliance with established procedures. To avoid any abnormality in the plant by frequent monitoring. To maintain process parameter of process as per SOP.

To ensure emissions / discharges of plant within the specified norms. Shift-Team Leadership:



Lead and mentor shift personnel, providing guidance, training, and support to enhance team performance and development. To motivate and lead the team for world-class initiatives (WCM) / 5S, TPM & Housekeeping in the plant.

Safety and Compliance: Enforce safety regulations and protocols, conduct regular safety audits, and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements & ensure a safe working environment for all team members. To act as incident controller for the plant until HOD/Section in Charge takes the charge, in case of emergency. To ensure the availabilities of PPEs as per day requirements and proper usage.

Quality Assurance: Implement and maintain quality control measures to ensure the production of high-quality chemical products. To ensure the quality of material are as per norms. To prepare the plant, documents and conduct all types of internal & external audits and should have a wareness about responsible care (Environment, Health, Safety and Security) Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve operational issues promptly to minimize downtime and maintain continuous production flow.

To co-ordinate with fitter for any maintenance jobs.

Reporting & documentation: Prepare and maintain accurate shift reports, documenting production data, incidents, and any deviations from standard procedures. To ensure the daily online entries of status board, logbooks and daily documents are completed & signed.

The Person: Educational Qualifications: B. Tech. in Chemical Engineering Experience: Minimum 4 to 7 years of overall experience in Batch Chemical Processes. Proven experience in a supervisory role within a chemical manufacturing plant.

Key competencies/ Skills: Knowledge of chemical reactions, safety protocols, and basic troubleshooting. Operating knowledge of batch chemical process and chemical manufacturing unit operations (distillation, extraction, absorption, drying operation, etc.) Working knowledge of all types of Reactors, High pressure reactors (Autoclave), filters, distillation columns, dryers, centrifuges, scrubber, Hot oil furnace, pumps, MEE, ATFD, blowers, safety valves and control valves in the batch process. Knowledge of utility operations – compressors, cooling towers, N2 plant, instrument air compressor, etc.

Knowledge of DCS / PLC based plant operation & control systems in plants. Proficiency in process control and safety management systems. Knowledge of MSDS, HAZOP, HIRA, FMEA, JSA, IMS & other safety / quality documents & ability to interpret technical documents.

Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement. Exposure in preparing SOP’s and WI’s of the concerned area. Exposure to WCM & 5S activities and TPM / TQM concepts. Material handling (Toxic / hazardous).

Understanding and experience of manpower handling. Excellent leadership, decision making & problem solving skills. Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills. Proficient in MS Office applications Good Communication & cross-functional Skills and teamwork abilities.
