Assistant Farm Manager – Organic Farming

Shree Gajanan Farms is looking for a dedicated and knowledgeable Assistant Farm Manager to support the day-to-day management of our farm and orchards. We follow natural and chemical-free farming practices and grow a variety of agricultural produce and exotic fruits.
The ideal candidate should have practical experience in organic farming, a strong understanding of crop and plant health, and the ability to independently monitor farm activities and provide regular updates to the founders.
Learning & Development: If you have a B.Sc. in Agriculture but do not yet have hands-on experience in organic farming, we are willing to provide or sponsor suitable organic farming training so you can develop the required knowledge and apply it practically at Shree Gajanan Farms.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Visit and supervise the farm daily and ensure all planned agricultural activities are being carried out properly.
- Regularly inspect crops, fruit trees and plants to assess their overall condition.
- Identify signs of nutrient deficiencies, pest attacks, diseases, water stress or other plant-health issues at an early stage.
- Recommend and supervise the application of appropriate organic manures, composts, bio-fertilisers, micronutrients and other natural supplements based on crop requirements.
- Ensure that farming activities follow the farm's natural and chemical-free cultivation practices.
- Monitor irrigation schedules, soil moisture, drainage and water requirements of different crops and plants.
- Supervise activities such as sowing, planting, transplanting, pruning, weeding, mulching, fertilisation, pest management and harvesting.
- Maintain proper schedules for the application of organic inputs and preventive plant-health treatments.
- Coordinate with farm workers and ensure that daily tasks are assigned, completed properly and on time.
- Monitor the condition and maintenance of farm equipment, irrigation systems and other agricultural infrastructure.
- Maintain records of crop activities, inputs used, plant treatments, labour activities, harvest quantities and other important farm information.
- Take photographs/videos where required and prepare daily farm updates and reports for the founders.
- Immediately inform the founders about any major crop-health issue, pest/disease outbreak, irrigation problem or other operational concern.
- Keep track of farm inventory including seeds, organic fertilisers, bio-inputs, tools and other agricultural supplies, and inform management about replenishment requirements.
- Assist in planning seasonal crops, plantation activities and harvesting schedules.
- Support experimentation and implementation of improved organic and sustainable farming techniques to enhance crop health, productivity and quality.
- Ensure cleanliness, discipline and proper maintenance across the farm.
- Perform any other farm-management responsibilities required for the smooth day-to-day operation of the farm.
Candidate Requirements:
- B.Sc. in Agriculture is mandatory.
- Prior practical experience in organic/natural farming is preferred, but not mandatory.
- Good knowledge of crop nutrition, soil health, organic fertilisers, bio-fertilisers and natural pest/disease management.
- Ability to identify common crop diseases, pest infestations and nutrient deficiencies.
- Experience with fruit orchards/horticulture will be an added advantage.
- Ability to supervise farm labour and independently manage daily farm activities.
- Comfortable maintaining basic records and submitting daily reports through WhatsApp/email or other reporting formats.
- Responsible, disciplined and willing to be physically present and stay on the farm.
- Willingness to stay near/on the farm premises is preferred.
What We Offer: ₹18,000–₹20,000 per month, food provided, and accommodation with basic necessities provided.
