About the Opportunity
Orbit Global HR Consultants is hiring on behalf of a reputed food manufacturing company for the position of Assistant Manager – Production.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing end-to-end production operations, driving manufacturing excellence, optimizing plant efficiency, improving productivity, ensuring food safety compliance, and leading continuous improvement initiatives across the manufacturing facility.
This leadership role requires strong expertise in production planning, process optimization, manpower management, quality systems, Lean Manufacturing, TPM, Kaizen, and food safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
Production Operations
- Lead day-to-day production operations to achieve daily, weekly, and monthly production targets.
- Ensure optimum utilization of manpower, machinery, utilities, and production resources.
- Improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), production efficiency, and plant productivity.
- Monitor production KPIs and implement corrective actions for continuous improvement.
Production Planning
- Develop production schedules in coordination with Planning, Supply Chain, Procurement, and Warehouse teams.
- Ensure timely availability of raw materials and packaging materials.
- Optimize production capacity while maintaining inventory accuracy.
- Monitor production output and minimize production losses.
Process Improvement
- Drive Lean Manufacturing, TPM, Kaizen, 5S, and Continuous Improvement initiatives.
- Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) using 5 Why, Fishbone Diagram, and CAPA methodologies.
- Reduce downtime, wastage, changeover time, and manufacturing costs.
- Improve labour productivity and resource utilization.
Quality & Food Safety
- Ensure compliance with GMP, GHP, HACCP, FSMS, ISO 22000, BRC, and company quality standards.
- Maintain Batch Manufacturing Records (BMR) and production documentation.
- Lead internal audits, customer audits, and regulatory inspections.
- Coordinate closely with QA, QC, R&D;, and Maintenance teams to resolve quality issues.
Team Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and develop production supervisors, engineers, operators, and shop-floor employees.
- Build a high-performance culture focused on safety, quality, productivity, and continuous learning.
- Ensure adherence to EHS, safety policies, and statutory compliance.
Project Management
- Support installation, commissioning, and optimization of new production lines and equipment.
- Participate in automation, capacity expansion, and process improvement projects.
- Coordinate preventive maintenance activities to maximize equipment uptime.
Reporting & MIS
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly production reports.
- Monitor key performance indicators including:
