Role Description The 3D Environment Artist (Game / VR) will design, build, and refine immersive environments for VR games and social experiences in a full-time remote role. Day-to-day responsibilities include creating 3D assets and modular environment pieces, authoring textures and materials, and setting up lighting that supports mood, gameplay, and performance in VR. The artist will collaborate closely with designers, programmers, and other artists to translate level and gameplay goals into visually compelling, optimized scenes.

This role also involves iterating on environments based on player feedback, performance metrics, and internal playtests, ensuring worlds feel alive, responsive, and fun.



The artist is expected to maintain consistent visual quality, follow technical constraints for VR platforms, and help evolve CurlyBlue’s overall art style and universe. Qualifications

Strong 3D workplace creation skills, including Level Design and Game Development fundamentals for real-time engines.

Proficiency with industry-standard 3D tools such as Autodesk Maya for modeling and scene assembly.

Solid understanding of Lighting for real-time rendering, including mood, readability, and performance in VR.

Experience with Texturing, materials, and shaders suitable for stylized or semi-realistic game environments.

Hands-on experience with a major game engine (e.g., Unity or Unreal Engine) and optimization best practices for VR.

Ability to collaborate effectively in a remote, cross-functional team and respond constructively to feedback.

Strong portfolio showcasing 3D environments for games or interactive experiences; VR work is a plus.

Familiarity with social or multiplayer game design, and an interest in community-driven, playful VR worlds.

Beneficial: knowledge of modular environment workflows, performance profiling, basic scripting tools, and version control (e.g., Git).

Beneficial: relevant education or training in game art, 3D design, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
