Job Description: Area Head - Credit (SME Retail)

Role Purpose

The Area Head - Credit will be responsible for managing the end-to-end credit underwriting and portfolio quality for the SME Retail business within the assigned geography. The role involves ensuring prudent credit decisions, maintaining portfolio health, driving process compliance, and supporting business growth while adhering to the organization's risk framework.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead and manage SME Retail credit underwriting activities across the assigned region, ensuring timely and quality credit decisions.

- Evaluate credit proposals, financial statements, banking behavior, cash flows, and collateral security to assess borrower creditworthiness.

- Monitor portfolio quality, delinquency trends, and early warning signals, and initiate corrective actions to minimize credit losses.

- Partner with Business, Risk, Operations,



and Collection teams to achieve business growth while maintaining defined risk parameters.

- Build, mentor, and manage a team of Credit Managers, ensuring productivity, governance, compliance, and continuous capability development.

Key Requirements

- Graduate/Postgraduate in Finance, Commerce, Management, or related discipline.

- Minimum 5+ years of experience in SME/LAP/MSME/Retail Credit underwriting and portfolio management.

- Solid understanding of financial statement analysis, credit appraisal, risk assessment, banking products, and regulatory guidelines.

- Experience in team handling and managing multiple branches/locations.

- Excellent stakeholder management, analytical, decision-making, and communication skills.
