Senior Architect

At WARD FOUR Design, we are looking for a Senior Architect who wants to become more than a senior pair of hands. This role is for someone ready to move from executing projects to influencing how they are conceived, resolved and delivered.

WARD FOUR works on healthcare, institutional and technically complex projects where architecture cannot be separated from operations, engineering, human behaviour and construction. The work is demanding, but that is precisely where the opportunity lies. You will work closely with senior leadership, clients, consultants and project teams. You will be involved in decisions that genuinely shape projects, rather than being limited to one narrow part of the delivery process. For the right architect, this is an opportunity to build three things that are difficult to acquire quickly in conventional practice:

Depth.

You will learn to solve complex planning, coordination and technical problems where the consequences of design decisions matter.

Range.

You will move across design thinking, client conversations, multidisciplinary coordination, documentation and construction,



developing a much more complete understanding of how buildings actually come together.

Leadership.

You will guide younger architects, take ownership of significant project decisions and develop the judgement required to eventually lead projects and teams independently.

We are looking for architects who are curious, technically strong and willing to take responsibility. People who notice what others miss. Who ask questions before problems reach site. Who can defend a design decision, but are equally willing to change it when the evidence says otherwise. Healthcare experience is valuable, but not essential. Strong architects from technically demanding practices who want to develop specialist expertise are encouraged to apply. You should be comfortable with architectural planning, detailing, documentation, coordination with consultants, and client communication. Solid AutoCAD skills are expected. Revit, BIM coordination and Sketch Up experience are an advantage.
