Senior Software Engineer – Video Playback (Frontend HTML5)

Role Summary

You will collaborate with subject matter experts and video specialists to design, build, and optimise playback experiences across Android TV devices using a hybrid platform combining native Android (ExoPlayer) and HTML5 WebView-based UI technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

- Design and implement connected / living room devices solutions to enhance network handling, ABR algorithms, and playback resiliency using ExoPlayer/ Shaka and related technologies.
- Optimise playback performance, startup time, buffering behaviour, and video quality across a wide range of connected / living room devices
- Collaborate with frontend and platform teams to ensure seamless interaction between WebView UI and native playback components.




- who is familiar with streaming protocols like HLS/DASH, DRM
- Participate in debugging and resolving complex playback issues across diverse device ecosystems and partner implementations

Required Qualifications:

- Skilled software engineering experience with a strong delivery track record in consumer-facing applications
- Strong expertise in frontend engineering HTML5, JS / TS.
- Hands-on experience with ExoPlayer, MediaCodec, and DRM technologies such as Widevine
- Experience working with hybrid applications combining native Android components and HTML5/WebView-based UIs
- Familiarity with integrating JavaScript interfaces or bridging mechanisms between WebView and native
