Role: Building Controls TechnicianFulltimeTravel Required 50%100% RemoteJob Description:Job Summary:We are seeking a skilled Building Controls Technician to support the deployment, upgrade, and ongoing operation of smart building and energy management infrastructure.This role focuses on the design, configuration, installation, testing, and commissioning of building control and monitoring systems, including LoRaWAN-based networks supporting HVAC, water, gas, and electrical metering across commercial properties.Responsibilities:Perform site surveys to document existing HVAC, electrical, water, gas, and building automation systems, network infrastructure, and control pointsDesign, configure, and deploy building control and monitoring architectures, including LoRaWAN, BMS, meters, sensors, and gatewaysConfigure and commission water, gas, and electrical metering systems for real-time usage tracking, analytics, and fault detectionResearch, evaluate, and validate current field devices, including sensors, submeters, controllers, and IoT hardwareMaintain detailed project documentation, including network diagrams, control sequences, point lists, redlines, and as-built drawingsPerform system commissioning, functional testing, trending, and QA/QC verification for all control and monitoring systemsProvide end-user training, system documentation,



and technical support during project turnoverSupport physical installation, wiring, device setup, and system startupInterface with clients, contractors, and utilities, providing project coordination and technical expertiseMentor and train junior technicians on building controls and monitoring technologiesExperience:Minimum 5+ years of experience in building automation, HVAC controls, commissioning, and system start-upExperience deploying LoRaWAN devices, sensors, and gateways preferredTechnical knowledge of control system installations, HVAC controls, and metering device configurationExperience with energy, water, or utility monitoring systems preferredWorking knowledge of building automation systems (BAS/BMS) and energy monitoring platformsWorking knowledge of communication protocols such as BACnet, Modbus, and LoRaWANStrong HVAC systems and control sequences knowledgeHands-on experience with building automation systems (BAS/BMS)Expertise in commissioning, functional testing, and troubleshootingExperience with electrical, water, and gas meteringAbility to analyze energy and utility data for performance and wasteAbility to troubleshoot sensors, controllers, networks, and wiringFamiliarity with IoT devices and smart building infrastructureAbility to lead, train, and mentor technical staff
