Job Description – Assistant Professor – School of Law

Position: Assistant Professor – School of Law
Department: School of Law
Reports To: Dean / Head of School of Law
Employment Type: Full-Time
Location: Campus

Position Overview

The Assistant Professor of Law will be responsible for delivering quality legal education, supporting student development, engaging in academic research, and contributing to the overall academic and institutional activities of the School of Law. The candidate should demonstrate strong subject knowledge, effective teaching ability, and a commitment to research and continuous academic development.

Key Responsibilities

- Plan and deliver lectures, tutorials, seminars, case studies, and practical learning sessions in Law.
- Teach undergraduate and postgraduate Law courses as assigned.
- Prepare course plans, teaching materials, presentations, assignments, and assessments.
- Evaluate student assignments, examinations, projects, and other academic activities.
- Provide academic mentoring and guidance to students.
- Guide students in research projects, presentations, moot courts, internships, and legal-related activities.
- Participate in curriculum development and periodic review of academic programmes.
- Conduct and participate in seminars, workshops, conferences, guest lectures, and faculty development programmes.
- Undertake independent and collaborative research in areas of specialization.
- Publish research papers in peer-reviewed/UGC-recognized journals and other reputed academic publications.
- Contribute to research projects, academic collaborations, and institutional research initiatives.




- Participate in moot court activities, legal aid clinics, internships, and other experiential learning programmes.
- Maintain student attendance, academic records, course files, and other required documentation.
- Participate in departmental and university committees and other academic/administrative responsibilities.
- Support accreditation, inspection, quality-assurance, and regulatory compliance activities.
- Keep updated with developments in Law, legal education, judicial decisions, legislation, and regulatory frameworks.
- Perform other academic responsibilities assigned by the Dean/Head of the School.

Essential Qualification

- LL.M. (Master's Degree in Law) with at least 55% marks or equivalent grade.
- For SC/ST/PwD/OBC-NCL candidates, the minimum qualifying marks shall be 50%, as applicable under the relevant regulations.
- The degree must be from a recognized university/institution.

Qualifying Test

The candidate must have qualified in any one of the following:

- UGC/CSIR-NET, or
- SLET/SET accredited/recognized by UGC.

NET/SLET/SET Exemption

Candidates who have been awarded a Ph.D. under the UGC (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2009 shall be exempt from the requirement of NET/SLET/SET, subject to the applicable UGC regulations.





BCI / Regulatory Compliance

- The candidate must satisfy the applicable Bar Council of India (BCI) requirements for teaching in a Centre/School of Legal Education.
- The candidate should possess the required academic qualifications in Law and comply with applicable UGC and University regulations.

Selection Committee

The appointment shall be made through the duly constituted Selection Committee comprising:

- Vice-Chancellor or Nominee – Chairperson
- The nominee should have 10+ years of experience as a Professor, as applicable.
- Dean of the Faculty
- Head/Chairperson of the concerned Department/School

The selection process shall be conducted in accordance with the applicable UGC Regulations, BCI requirements, and University Statutes/Ordinances.

Preferred Profile

Candidates with prior teaching experience, research publications, participation in conferences/seminars, moot court experience, legal aid activities, internships, or practical exposure to the legal profession may be preferred.

Pay: ₹30,000.00 - ₹50,000.00 per month
