Job Title
Customs Clearance Executive
Job Summary
The Customs Clearance Executive is responsible for managing end-to-end customs clearance activities for import and export shipments. The role ensures timely clearance of cargo, compliance with customs regulations, coordination with customs authorities, freight forwarders, transporters, shipping lines, and internal stakeholders while minimizing delays and demurrage costs.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle customs clearance activities for import and export shipments.
- Prepare, review, and verify shipping and customs documentation, including:
- Bill of Entry
- Shipping Bill
- Commercial Invoice
- Packing List
- Bill of Lading / Air Waybill
- Certificate of Origin
- Insurance Documents
- Import/Export Licenses
- Coordinate with Customs Brokers (CHA), Freight Forwarders, Shipping Lines, Airlines, and Port Authorities.
- Ensure compliance with Customs Act, DGFT regulations, EXIM policies, and applicable government regulations.
- Classify products using the correct HS Code and determine applicable duties and taxes.
- Monitor shipment status and proactively resolve customs-related issues to prevent delays.
- Liaise with customs officials for inspections, assessments, and document verification.
- Arrange duty payments and monitor customs clearance timelines.
- Coordinate transportation after customs clearance for timely delivery.
- Track vessel schedules, ETA updates, and cargo movement.
- Minimize demurrage, detention,
storage, and port handling charges.
- Maintain accurate customs records and shipment documentation.
- Generate customs clearance reports and maintain MIS.
- Support internal audits and statutory compliance requirements.
- Coordinate with Procurement, Logistics, Warehouse, Finance, and Project teams.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of Import & Export documentation.
- Customs clearance procedures and compliance.
- HS Code Classification.
- Incoterms (2020).
- DGFT, ICEGATE, and Customs Portal.
- Duty structure and tariff regulations.
- Freight forwarding and shipping operations.
- Port and terminal operations.
- Excellent coordination and negotiation skills.
- Robust analytical and problem-solving ability.
- Good communication and stakeholder management.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, ERP/SAP, and logistics software.
Pay: ₹10,029.11 - ₹50,000.00 per month
