Job Description – Farm Manager

Job Summary

The Farm Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day management of our 25-acre farm near Porur, Chennai. The role includes supervising farm workers, planning farming activities, maintaining the farm, and ensuring crops are planted, maintained, harvested, and sold on time.

Responsibilities

- Supervise and manage daily farm activities.
- Plan and oversee land preparation, planting, irrigation, fertilizing, harvesting, and other farming operations.
- Procure farm Labour and ensure work is completed on schedule.
- Maintain attendance and allocate daily work to laborers.
- Monitor crop health and take action to control pests, weeds, and diseases.
- Arrange the purchase of seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, and other farm materials.
- Oversee the harvesting, storage, transportation, and sale of farm produce.
- Maintain the farm, irrigation systems, fencing, equipment, and machinery.
- Maintain accounts of Labour, expenses, crop production, purchases, and sales.
- Report crop issues, equipment breakdowns, or any other problems to Management immediately.
- Carry out any other farm-related duties assigned by Management.
- · Develop and improve farming methods to increase productivity while keeping cultivation costs as low as possible.
- · Suggest and implement innovative ideas to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of farm operations.




- · Implement practical techniques to reduce and conserve water consumption.
- · Simplify and improve farm operations to reduce unnecessary work, time, and costs.
- · Plan and cultivate suitable seasonal crops at the right time to ensure planting is completed within the appropriate season.

Qualifications

- Diploma holder in Agriculture, Horticulture, or a related field is preferred.
- Practical farm experience is strongly preferred, with preference given to candidates who have hands-on farming experience.
- Experience in managing profitable agricultural farm operations.
- Marketing the produce in nearby markets
- Knowledge of farming practices and crop cultivation in the relevant soil conditions.
- Ability to supervise farm workers and manage daily operations.
- Good communication and leadership skills.
- Record-keeping skills.
