Job Overview

Baseline is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer – Fire Protection & Utility Systems with experience in industrial projects. The role involves designing fire protection and utility systems, performing hydraulic calculations, and preparing engineering drawings.

This is a design-focused role; candidates with primarily site execution, maintenance, or operations experience will not be considered.

Key Responsibilities

- Design Fire Protection Systems including Fire Hydrant, Fire Sprinkler, Fire Pump Room, MVWS, HVWS, and Foam Flooding Systems.
- Design utility piping systems for Cooling Water, Process Water, Raw Water, Potable Water, Compressed Air, Nitrogen, and Steam & Condensate (preferred).
- Perform hydraulic calculations including fire water storage tank capacity, pipe sizing, pressure drop, flow rate, and pump head calculations, and select suitable pumps, valves, and piping materials.
- Prepare engineering deliverables including P&IDs;, General Arrangement (GA) Drawings, Isometric Drawings, Material Take-Offs (MTO), and Bills of Quantities (BOQ).
- Design and coordinate Fire Detection & Alarm Systems in accordance with project requirements.
- Ensure compliance with NBC, IS Standards, NFPA, FM Global, local fire regulations, and client specifications.
- Coordinate with Civil, Electrical, Instrumentation,



and other engineering disciplines.
- Participate in design reviews, resolve technical issues, and support project documentation.

Qualification & Experience

- B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum 2–5 years of experience in Fire Protection and Utility System Design.
- Experience in industrial, manufacturing, power, or infrastructure projects will be preferred.
- Strong knowledge of fire protection engineering principles and hydraulic calculations.
- Experience in preparing P&IDs;, GA Drawings, Isometric Drawings, MTOs, and BOQs.
- Good understanding of NBC, IS Standards, NFPA, and FM Global guidelines.
- Solid analytical, coordination, communication, and problem-solving skills.
