Key Responsibilities
- Explain inpatient ward facilities, admission procedures, and ward rules to patients and their caregivers.
- Monitor and record vital signs, neurological status, intake and output, and overall patient condition.
- Provide complete nursing care to patients admitted to the rehabilitation ward.
- Administer medications, IV fluids, injections, and other treatments as prescribed by the doctor.
- Assist consultants and doctors during ward rounds and follow up on their instructions.
- Attend patient calls promptly and respond to patient needs with empathy and professionalism.
- Recognize and respond to emergencies, including Code Blue situations.
- Explain prescribed investigations to patients and coordinate their timely completion.
- Prepare patients for procedures or surgery, where applicable.
- Provide post-operative and post-procedure nursing care.
- Perform wound care, catheter care, feeding support, pressure sore prevention, and other nursing procedures as required.
- Coordinate with physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, doctors, and other healthcare professionals.
- Ensure safe transfer and positioning of patients, especially those with neurological, spinal, or mobility-related conditions.
- Maintain accurate nursing notes, case sheets, medication records, investigation reports, and shift handover records.
- Check case sheets after consultant rounds for completeness and accuracy.
- Coordinate appointments for MRI, CT scans, and other external investigations.
- Explain discharge instructions, medication schedules, follow-up appointments, and home-care precautions to patients and caregivers.
- Check emergency drugs, medical equipment, and nursing supplies regularly and report shortages or expiry.
- Maintain infection-control practices, patient safety standards, cleanliness, and confidentiality.
- Participate in shift handovers, nursing meetings, audits, and quality-improvement activities.
Eligibility
- Diploma in Nursing,
ANM, GNM, DGNM, or B.Sc. Nursing.
- Valid registration with the Tamil Nadu Nurses and Midwives Council is preferred.
- Minimum 1 year of nursing experience is preferred; freshers may also be considered based on suitability.
- Experience in rehabilitation, neurology, orthopaedics, critical care, post-operative care, or hospital nursing will be an advantage.
- Willingness to work rotational shifts, including night duties.
