Role : Sr. RDK Application Developer

Sr Application Developer – RDK

Senior Application Developer to drive the development, integration, optimization, and certification of applications on the RDK platform. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise across both Web-based and Native Application frameworks, with proven experience in implementing platform capabilities, integrating premium OTT services, and supporting application certification programs.

This role requires deep technical knowledge of application architecture, middleware integration, DRM technologies, media playback pipelines, and application lifecycle management across operator and retail devices.

Key Responsibilities

Application Development & Integration

- Design, develop, and maintain application features across Web and Native application environments on RDK devices.
- Integrate new platform capabilities and APIs into application frameworks.
- Implement scalable and reusable application components with a focus on performance, stability, and maintainability.
- Robust experience with RDK Application Infrastructure, DAC (Device Application Container), and OCI container technologies
- Knowledge of container security, resource management, application isolation, and software lifecycle management.
- Work closely with platform, middleware, video, security, and cloud teams to deliver end-to-end solutions.

Native Application Enablement

- Lead integration and onboarding of native applications on RDK devices.
- Drive implementation of application platform requirements, SDK integrations, and device-specific optimizations.
- Enable seamless interaction between native applications and underlying RDK system services.
- Troubleshoot complex issues involving application lifecycle, rendering, networking, DRM, and media playback.





Premium Application Certification

- Support certification efforts for premium OTT applications including services such as Prime Video, Netflix, YouTube, and other streaming partners.
- Analyze certification requirements and implement necessary platform enhancements.
- Collaborate with certification partners, operators, OEMs, and SoC vendors to resolve compliance issues.
- Drive root cause analysis and issue resolution for certification blockers.
- Prepare devices, software releases, and validation evidence required for certification signoff.

Performance & Optimization

- Analyze application startup, memory, CPU, and media playback performance.
- Optimize application responsiveness and resource utilization.
- Identify bottlenecks across application frameworks, middleware, and underlying platform layers.
- Support performance tuning for premium application launch and playback scenarios.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related discipline.
- 10+ years of software development experience in embedded Linux, consumer devices, or OTT platforms.
- Strong experience with RDK-based platforms.
- Hands-on experience developing and integrating both Web and Native applications.
- Strong proficiency in C++, JavaScript, and application framework technologies.
- Deep understanding of application lifecycle management and platform APIs.
- Experience with Linux-based development environments.
- Strong debugging and root cause analysis skills.
