Job Description: Integrated Science SME Reviewer & Subject Head
Project: UK / International Curriculum Question Bank Development
Levels Covered: Junior & Senior Secondary (KS3, KS4 / IGCSE, KS5 / A-Level)
Engagement: Freelance / Project-Based (Remote)
Time Commitment: Minimum 4–5 hours per day
Project Overview
We are hiring experienced Integrated Science Subject Matter Experts (SME Reviewers) and Subject Heads for a comprehensive UK/International curriculum question-bank project.
The production pipeline utilizes an AI-assisted content-generation workflow. Every asset—questions, solutions, mark schemes, data points, and diagrams—must undergo rigorous human academic review, correction, and verification prior to final client submission.
Review Workflow:
$$text{AI-Assisted Question Generation} longrightarrow text{SME Reviewer} longrightarrow text{Subject Head} longrightarrow text{Internal Delivery Check} longrightarrow text{Client Submission}$$Role 1: Integrated Science SME Reviewer
The SME Reviewer performs the first-line, detailed academic review, editing, and direct remediation of AI-generated content across Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Earth & Space Science, and STEM.
Key Responsibilities
- Academic & Fact Checking: Validate scientific accuracy, curriculum alignment, cognitive demand, and age/level suitability across KS3, KS4/IGCSE, and KS5/A-Level.
- Direct Content Reworking: Rewrite vague, misleading, or scientifically inaccurate questions, answers, and comprehensive step-by-step solutions.
- Practical & Experimental Science Validation: Check apparatus diagrams, methods, independent/dependent/controlled variables, risk assessments, lab safety protocols, and inferences drawn from experiments.
- Quantitative & Visual Precision: Verify scientific calculations, SI units, significant figures, formulas, graphs, data tables,
and diagram callouts/labels.
- Metadata & Alignment: Confirm accurate knowledge-point mapping, topic tagging, difficulty tiers, question types, and mark scheme allocations.
- Editorial Quality: Standardise all text to British English (UK spelling and conventions) while maintaining cultural neutrality and academic tone.
- Correction Cycles: Adhere to daily turnaround targets and implement feedback adjustments promptly.
Subject-Specific Expectations (Multidisciplinary & KS5)
- Ability to handle interdisciplinary science questions rather than isolated single-subject queries.
- For KS5 / A-Level, evaluate advanced cross-disciplinary reasoning, real-world data models, complex bio-chemical systems, physical mechanics, and quantitative application problems.
Role 2: Integrated Science Subject Head
The Subject Head conducts the second-tier quality gate review, ensuring overarching academic integrity, structural consistency, and client-readiness across all science deliverables.
Key Responsibilities
- Secondary Academic Audit: Verify all SME corrections, ensuring that errors, edge cases, and hallucinations have been thoroughly resolved.
- Curriculum & Tier Governance: Ensure balanced distribution across KS3, KS4/IGCSE, and KS5/A-Level syllabi (Cambridge, Edexcel, OxfordAQA, UK National Curriculum).
- Quality Control & SME Feedback: Flag sub-par submissions and return files to SMEs with clear, actionable technical feedback.
- Final Visual & Data Sign-Off:
Validate high-complexity charts, scientific models, practical experimental setups, and datasets for flawless precision.
- Readiness Verification: Ensure formatting, metadata tags, and British English conventions meet final delivery specifications before internal handoff.
Candidate Profile & Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Integrated Science, Natural Sciences, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, or a closely related STEM discipline.
- Experience: Proven background in secondary/senior secondary teaching, assessment design, curriculum development, or educational publishing.
- Curriculum Familiarity: Practical experience with UK Curriculum, Cambridge (CIE), Pearson Edexcel, OxfordAQA, IGCSE, or A-Level standards.
- Technical Rigour: High proficiency in evaluating practical experiments, mathematical working, units, and scientific nomenclature.
- AI Literacy: Comfortable evaluating, rewriting, and enhancing AI-assisted academic drafts.
- Tools: Proficiency in Google Sheets and Microsoft Excel tracking workflows.
Engagement & Mandatory Requirements
- Availability: Dedicated minimum of 4–5 hours per day (long-term availability preferred).
- Compliance: Signed Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) required prior to project onboarding.
- Screening Task: Shortlisted candidates must complete a paid/unpaid screening task evaluating error detection, multidisciplinary depth, mark scheme construction, and British English conventions.
