Position Title: Fiber Optic Splicer

Department: Technical / Field Operations

Reports To: Field Supervisor / Project Manager

1. Job Summary

The Fiber Optic Splicer is responsible for installation, splicing, testing, maintenance, and repair of fiber optic cables to ensure uninterrupted broadband, IPTV, and leased line services. The role requires technical expertise, accuracy, safety compliance, and timely execution of assigned projects.

2. Roles and ResponsibilitiesA. Fiber Splicing & Termination

· Perform fusion and mechanical splicing of fiber optic cables.

· Prepare, strip, clean, and cleave fiber cables before splicing.

· Terminate fiber cables in ODF, patch panels, and distribution boxes.

· Ensure splice loss remains within acceptable standards.

B. Installation & Deployment

· Install underground, aerial, and indoor fiber optic cables.

· Assist in cable laying, routing, and ducting activities.

· Install joint enclosures, splitter boxes, and fiber distribution units.

C. Testing & Troubleshooting

· Conduct testing using OTDR, power meter, and light source.

· Identify and rectify fiber faults, breaks, and signal losses.

· Perform preventive maintenance and emergency restoration work.

· Maintain proper documentation of test results.

D. Maintenance & Repair

· Respond promptly to service complaints and fiber cut issues.

· Repair damaged fiber cables and restore connectivity.

· Coordinate with technical teams during network outages.

Documentation & Reporting

· Maintain daily work reports and job completion reports.

· Record splice loss readings and maintain fiber route details.

· Update inventory usage of fiber cables and materials.

F. Safety & Compliance

· Follow company safety policies and use proper PPE.

· Ensure work is completed as per industry standards and company guidelines.

· Maintain tools and equipment in proper working condition.

3. Required Skills & Competencies

· Knowledge of fiber optic splicing and testing equipment.

· Ability to read fiber network diagrams and route maps.

· Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

· Basic knowledge of broadband and IPTV network infrastructure.

· Valuable communication and teamwork skills.

· Willingness to work in field conditions and extended hours if required.

4. Educational Qualification

· ITI / Diploma in Electronics, Telecommunications, or relevant field.

· Certification in Fiber Optic Technology (Preferred).

5. Experience

· 1–3 years of experience in fiber optic splicing (Preferred).

· Freshers with technical training may also apply.

6. Key Performance Indicators (KPI)

· Quality of splicing (minimum loss levels).

· Timely completion of assigned tasks.

· Quick fault resolution and restoration.

· Compliance with safety and reporting standards.

Pay: ₹12,000.00 - ₹20,000.00 per month
