JOB DESCRIPTION

To create a safe, joyful, nurturing and stimulating learning setting for children in the Foundation Stage by implementing developmentally appropriate, play-based and experiential learning practices. The teacher will support children's foundational literacy, numeracy, communication, social-emotional development, physical development, creativity and overall well-being in alignment with the CBSE/NCF Foundational Stage framework and the school's academic programme.

Key Responsibilities1. Teaching & Learning

- Plan and implement age-appropriate learning experiences for children in Balvatika / Pre-Primary / Kindergarten / Foundation Stage.
- Use play-based, activity-based, inquiry-based and experiential learning approaches.
- Develop children's foundational skills in:
- Language and communication
- Early literacy
- Early numeracy
- Environmental awareness
- Physical development
- Creative expression
- Social and emotional development
- Use stories, rhymes, music, role play, games, art, craft, manipulatives and hands-on activities to make learning meaningful.
- Provide opportunities for children to explore, observe, question, communicate and solve age-appropriate problems.
- Integrate real-life experiences into classroom learning.
- Use appropriate teaching-learning materials and resources, including locally available materials and digital resources where appropriate.
- Ensure learning is child-centred rather than textbook-driven.

CBSE's expectations for teachers emphasize moving away from rote learning, experiential learning, integrated assessment, real-life connections and holistic development.

2. Child Development & Well-Being

- Understand the developmental needs and individual differences of young children.




- Create a warm, caring, inclusive and emotionally secure classroom environment.
- Encourage confidence, independence, curiosity and positive self-expression.
- Develop children's social skills, sharing, cooperation, empathy and respect for others.
- Support children in developing age-appropriate self-help skills and good habits.
- Observe children regularly and identify developmental, behavioural or learning concerns.
- Escalate concerns related to child development or well-being to the appropriate coordinator/authority.
- Ensure children's safety, hygiene and emotional well-being at all times.

3. Classroom Management

- Establish predictable and child-friendly classroom routines.
- Manage classroom behaviour positively using age-appropriate strategies.
- Encourage discipline through positive reinforcement rather than punitive practices.
- Maintain a stimulating and well-organized classroom environment.
- Display children's work and learning experiences appropriately.
- Ensure all classroom materials and resources are safe and age-appropriate.
- Supervise children during classroom activities, transitions, breaks and assigned duties.

4. Foundational Literacy & Numeracy

- Develop phonological awareness, vocabulary, listening and speaking skills.
- Introduce age-appropriate pre-reading and early reading skills.




- Develop pencil readiness, fine-motor skills and pre-writing skills.
- Build number sense, counting, patterns, shapes, comparisons and basic mathematical thinking.
- Use manipulatives, games, stories and everyday situations to develop early mathematical concepts.
- Monitor children's progress in foundational literacy and numeracy.

5. Observation & Assessment

- Conduct continuous observation of children's learning and development.
- Maintain individual student observation records, portfolios and learning documentation.
- Use developmentally appropriate formative assessment methods.
- Document children's strengths, interests, progress and areas requiring support.
- Avoid excessive formal testing of young children.
- Use assessment information to plan differentiated learning experiences.
- Prepare student progress reports as per the school's assessment framework.

Qualification

- Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education / Elementary Education / Education or an equivalent relevant qualification.
- D.El.Ed. / Diploma in Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) / Montessori / NTT qualification is preferred, depending on the age group and role.

Experience

- 2–5 years of experience in Early Years / Pre-Primary / Foundation Stage / Primary education is preferred.
- Experience in a CBSE school will be an added advantage.
- Candidates with strong Montessori exposure and relevant qualifications may also be considered.
- Freshers with excellent communication skills, relevant qualifications and strong aptitude for working with young children may be considered.

Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
