Job Purpose
To supervise the maintenance, safety, functionality, and availability of biomedical equipment across the medical college and hospital, ensuring timely preventive and breakdown maintenance and compliance with applicable regulatory and hospital standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise installation, commissioning, preventive maintenance and breakdown maintenance of biomedical equipment.
- Monitor the functioning of critical equipment including ventilators, monitors, infusion pumps, OT equipment, dialysis machines, laboratory equipment and other medical devices.
- Ensure timely preventive maintenance and calibration as per approved schedules.
- Coordinate with vendors/service agencies for AMC/CMC, repairs, calibration and technical support.
- Maintain updated inventory, equipment history cards, service records, calibration certificates and maintenance logs.
- Attend equipment breakdown complaints promptly and ensure minimum downtime of critical equipment.
- Conduct regular rounds of clinical areas to identify equipment-related issues and ensure timely resolution.
- Ensure electrical and operational safety of biomedical equipment and report unsafe/defective equipment immediately.
- Assist in equipment procurement by providing technical specifications, evaluation and recommendations.
- Coordinate with clinical and nursing departments regarding equipment requirements, usage and technical issues.
- Monitor AMC/CMC performance and verify vendor service reports.
- Support user training on safe and appropriate operation of biomedical equipment.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, statutory requirements, NABH and other applicable standards.
- Prepare periodic reports on equipment uptime, breakdowns, preventive maintenance, calibration and pending repairs.
- Guide and supervise Biomedical Technicians and other support staff.

- Robust knowledge of biomedical equipment and hospital engineering systems.
- Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Vendor and AMC/CMC management.
- Good documentation and record-keeping skills.
- Ability to coordinate effectively with clinical, nursing and administrative teams.
- Knowledge of NABH requirements related to biomedical equipment.
- Strong supervisory, communication and time-management skills.
Qualification & Experience
- Qualification: Diploma/B.E./B.Tech in Biomedical Engineering or equivalent.
- Experience: Minimum 4-7 years of relevant experience in a hospital/medical college or healthcare facility, preferably with supervisory experience.
Pay: ₹250,000.00 - ₹500,000.00 per year
