Job Summary
We are looking for a responsible and detail-oriented CSSD Technician to join our healthcare team. The CSSD Technician will be responsible for cleaning, disinfecting, assembling, sterilizing, storing, and distributing medical and surgical instruments in accordance with hospital policies, infection control standards, and applicable safety guidelines.
The ideal candidate should have good knowledge of CSSD procedures, sterilization techniques, infection prevention practices, and proper handling of surgical instruments.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive, sort, clean, decontaminate, disinfect, inspect, assemble, pack, label, and sterilize surgical instruments and medical equipment.
- Operate and monitor sterilization equipment such as autoclaves and other sterilizers.
- Follow appropriate sterilization and disinfection procedures for different types of instruments and equipment.
- Inspect instruments for cleanliness, functionality, damage, and proper operation before packing and sterilization.
- Assemble surgical sets and instrument trays according to established checklists and department requirements.
- Prepare and maintain sterilization packs, trays, and procedure-specific sets.
- Perform and document physical, chemical, and biological monitoring of sterilization processes as required.
- Maintain accurate records of sterilization cycles, load details, indicators, and equipment checks.
- Store sterilized items appropriately and maintain proper stock rotation and expiry monitoring.
- Supply sterile instruments, packs, and equipment to operating rooms and other clinical departments as required.
- Handle contaminated instruments and materials safely according to infection control and occupational safety procedures.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of CSSD work areas and equipment.
- Follow hospital infection control policies, standard precautions, and occupational health and safety procedures.
- Report damaged instruments, sterilization failures, equipment problems, or other concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
- Assist with routine maintenance and quality checks of CSSD equipment.
- Maintain confidentiality and professional conduct at all times.
- Perform other CSSD-related duties assigned by the supervisor or department manager.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma/Certificate in CSSD, Sterile Processing, Operation Theatre Technology, or a related healthcare field.
- Previous experience in CSSD or sterile processing is preferred.
- Knowledge of surgical instruments, sterilization methods, infection control, and aseptic practices.
- Ability to operate sterilization and disinfection equipment safely.
- Good attention to detail and ability to follow standard operating procedures.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a healthcare team.
- Positive communication and organizational skills.
- Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and holidays as required.
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of autoclave and other sterilization processes.
- Understanding of chemical and biological sterilization indicators.
- Familiarity with surgical instrument identification and assembly.
- Knowledge of infection prevention and control practices.
- Ability to maintain accurate documentation and records.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced hospital environment.
Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹20,000.00 per month
