Job Summary

We are looking for a talented Video Editor to shape SMEC's video presence across Instagram, YouTube, and Facebook.

You will edit reels, course promotions, student testimonials, event videos, tech explainers, and trend-based content that stops the scroll and drives course enquiries.

Whether you're a skilled fresher with a strong portfolio or an editor with up to 2 years of experience, if you have sharp cuts, great pacing, strong visual instincts, and an understanding of what the Kerala student audience watches, we want to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities

- Edit reels, shorts, and long-form videos for Instagram, YouTube, and Facebook.
- Edit course promotions, student testimonials, tech explainers, and trend-format videos.
- Add motion graphics, text animations, captions/subtitles, transitions, and brand elements using Adobe After Effects or built-in editing tools.
- Perform colour correction and basic colour grading.
- Handle audio cleanup, background music selection, and sound-effect syncing.
- Edit event coverage including seminars, workshops, placement drives, and tech fests into highlight videos and social media clips.
- Create engaging video thumbnails and coordinate with the graphic designer to maintain visual consistency.
- Repurpose long-form content into reels and shorts.
- Adapt trending formats and audio to suit the SMEC brand.
- Manage and organise video assets, project files,



and export settings according to platform specifications.
- Work closely with the content creator and digital marketing team on shoot planning and content calendars.
- Use AI-assisted editing tools such as auto-captioning, upscaling, and voice-cleanup tools to improve efficiency.
- Deliver high-quality videos within deadlines while handling multiple projects simultaneously.

Requirements

- Bachelor's degree or diploma in any discipline.
- Multimedia, Film, Media, or related educational background is a plus.
- 0–2 years of video editing experience.
- Experience through in-house roles, agencies, freelance work, internships, or personal projects will be considered.
- Strong hands-on skills in Adobe Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve.
- Working knowledge of Adobe After Effects.
- Comfortable using mobile/quick-editing tools such as CapCut for fast-turnaround reels.
- Good understanding of pacing, hooks, transitions, and storytelling for reels, shorts, and YouTube.
- Knowledge of basic colour grading and audio syncing.
- Understanding of platform-specific video export formats and specifications.
- Robust portfolio/showreel featuring edited videos such as reels, YouTube videos, promotional content, or personal projects.
- Portfolio is mandatory.
- Good understanding of content trends on Instagram and YouTube, particularly for the Kerala student audience.
- Familiarity with AI video and editing tools such as auto-captioning tools, Runway, AI upscalers, and similar tools is a plus.
- Basic knowledge of shooting and camera equipment is an advantage.
