Position Overview
Purpose & Scope:
The Power BI Senior Analyst designs, builds, and maintains the dashboards, reports, and semantic models that turn Ralph Lauren’s curated data assets into clear, actionable business insight.
This role works closely with Decision Science, Data Engineering, and Data Product Management teams, as well as business stakeholders, to translate analytical requirements into well-structured, performant, and governed Power BI solutions.
The Power BI Senior Analyst is hands-on and detail-oriented, with accountability for report quality, data model design,
and the overall usability and reliability of BI assets across the organization.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
What you will be doing (responsibilities):
1. Dashboard & Report Development
- Design and build Power BI dashboards, reports, and semantic models that meet business and analytical requirements.
- Develop well-structured data models, DAX measures, and calculations that support accurate, performant reporting.
- Apply visualization and UX best practices to ensure reports are clear, intuitive, and actionable.
- Optimize report and dataset performance for large or complex data volumes.
2. Business & Stakeholder Support
- Work directly with business stakeholders to understand reporting needs and translate them into BI requirements.
- Lead requirements-gathering sessions and validate that delivered reports meet business intent.
- Provide training and support to business users on self-service Power BI capabilities.
- Build solid working relationships through responsiveness, clarity, and reliable delivery.
3. Data Modeling & Governance
- Partner with Data Engineering to ensure underlying datasets support reliable, governed reporting.
- Maintain consistent metric definitions, naming conventions, and documentation across reports.
- Support Power BI workspace organization, access control, and content lifecycle management.
- Surface and help resolve data quality or definitional issues affecting reporting accuracy.
4.
Platform & Continuous Improvement
- Stay current on Power BI platform capabilities and recommend adoption where it adds value.
- Contribute to reusable templates, themes, and report design standards across the BI portfolio.
- Monitor usage and performance of published reports, identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Support migration, consolidation, or rationalization of legacy reporting where applicable.
Experience, Skills, and Knowledge
What you bring (Qualifications):
Required
- 4–7+ years of hands-on experience building dashboards, reports, and data models in Power BI.
- Strong proficiency in DAX, Power Query (M), and Power BI data modeling best practices.
- Solid SQL skills, with the ability to write and troubleshoot queries against enterprise data sources.
- Experience working with large, enterprise-scale datasets and optimizing report performance.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate business needs into analytical requirements.
Preferred
- Experience working with Databricks, Azure, or other cloud-based data platforms as report data sources.
- Familiarity with data governance and catalog tools such as Atlan or equivalent.
- Experience in retail, consumer goods, or digital commerce environments.
- Power BI certifications (PL-300 or equivalent).
