Job Description – Associate Professor of Law

Position: Associate Professor – School of Law
Department: School of Law
Reports To: Dean / Head of School of Law
Employment Type: Full-Time
Location: Campus

Position Overview

The Associate Professor of Law will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching, conducting research, publishing scholarly work, mentoring students and junior faculty, and contributing to the academic and administrative development of the School of Law. The candidate is expected to actively participate in curriculum development, academic activities, research initiatives, and institutional responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

- Deliver undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Law as assigned.
- Prepare and deliver lectures, tutorials, seminars, case discussions, and other academic sessions.
- Develop and update course materials, lesson plans, reading materials, and assessment methods.
- Conduct examinations, evaluate student performance, and provide academic feedback.
- Mentor and guide students in academic, research, internship, and career-related activities.
- Supervise and guide student research projects, dissertations, and academic assignments.
- Undertake independent and collaborative research in areas of specialization.
- Publish research papers, books, book chapters, policy papers, and other scholarly work in reputed and peer-reviewed/UGC-listed publications.
- Participate in conferences, seminars, workshops, faculty development programmes, and academic forums.
- Develop research proposals and contribute to securing research grants and funded projects.
- Collaborate with universities, research institutions, legal professionals, courts, law firms, corporates, and other external stakeholders.
- Contribute to curriculum development and academic planning in accordance with UGC, BCI, and University regulations.
- Participate in moot courts, legal aid clinics, internships, seminars, workshops,



and other experiential learning initiatives.
- Contribute to departmental and university-level committees and administrative activities.
- Support accreditation, ranking, inspection, and quality-assurance activities.
- Mentor junior faculty members and contribute to faculty development.
- Maintain academic records and submit reports as required by the University.
- Undertake any other academic or administrative responsibilities assigned by the Dean/Head or competent authority.

Essential Qualification

- Good academic record with a Ph.D. degree in Law or a relevant/allied discipline.
- Master's degree in Law or relevant discipline with at least 55% marks from a recognized university/institution.
- The candidate must satisfy the applicable UGC Regulations and Bar Council of India (BCI) requirements for appointment as Associate Professor of Law.

Experience

- Minimum 8 years of teaching and/or research experience in an academic/research position equivalent to that of an Assistant Professor.
- Experience in teaching Law at the university/college level will be preferred.
- Experience in academic administration, research supervision, curriculum development, and institutional activities will be an added advantage.

Research & Publications

- Minimum 7 publications comprising books and/or research/policy papers in peer-reviewed or UGC-listed journals, as applicable.
- Demonstrated research capability with a strong academic publication record.
- Experience in research projects, conferences, seminars, or funded research activities will be preferred.

Research Score

- Minimum total Research Score of 75,



as prescribed under the applicable UGC Regulations and Appendix II/III, Table 2.

BCI Requirement

- The candidate must possess the required academic and professional qualifications in Law.
- The candidate must satisfy the applicable Bar Council of India norms for appointment as faculty in a Centre/School of Legal Education.
- Preference may be given to candidates with demonstrated experience in legal education, research, clinical legal education, moot courts, internships, and related academic activities.

Selection Committee

The appointment shall be made through the Selection Committee constituted in accordance with the applicable University/UGC regulations, comprising:

- Vice-Chancellor or Nominee – Chairperson, with 10+ years of Professor-level experience, as applicable.
- Three Subject Experts nominated by the Vice-Chancellor.
- Dean of the Faculty.
- Head/Chairperson of the Department/School.

Preferred Profile

Candidates with experience in legal research, Ph.D. supervision, funded research projects, academic administration, moot courts, legal aid clinics, internships, publications, and collaboration with courts, law firms, corporates, or reputed academic institutions will be preferred

Pay: ₹40,000.00 - ₹80,000.00 per month
