Key Responsibilities

1. Treaty Management

- Manage and administer all treaty reinsurance contracts (Proportional & Non-Proportional).
- Ensure contract wordings are correctly interpreted and implemented in systems.
- Maintain treaty databases including limits, retention, reinstatements, and cover details.

2. Accounting & Settlements

- Prepare and review treaty accounts (Premium bordereaux, commission calculations, recoveries).
- Monitor and process reinsurance recoverables, claims, and settlements.
- Coordinate with finance teams for timely reconciliation and reporting.

3. Claims Coordination

- Track and manage treaty claims notifications and recoveries.
- Ensure timely submission of claims bordereaux to reinsurers.
- Liaise with claims and underwriting teams for accurate data capture.

4. Reporting & Analysis

- Generate periodic MIS reports on treaty utilization, recoveries, and profitability.
- Analyze treaty performance and recommend optimization strategies.
- Support actuarial/pricing teams with reinsurance-related data.

5. Renewals & Placement Support

- Assist in treaty renewal processes, including data preparation and submission.
- Coordinate with brokers and reinsurers for placements and negotiations.
- Review terms, conditions, and pricing impacts.

Compliance & Documentation

- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (IRDAI or relevant authority).
- Maintain documentation and audit trails for all treaty arrangements.
- Support internal and external audits.

7. Stakeholder Management

- Work closely with underwriting, finance, actuarial, and claims teams.
- Build and maintain relationships with reinsurers and brokers.

Key Skills & Competencies

- Strong understanding of treaty reinsurance structures (Quota Share, Surplus, Excess of Loss, Stop Loss).
- Knowledge of reinsurance accounting and terms (ceded premium, commission, recoverables).
- Analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Attention to detail and data accuracy.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Proficiency in Excel and reinsurance systems/tools.

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Insurance, Finance, Commerce, or related field.
- Qualified certifications (preferred):
- ACII / AIII / Insurance Institute qualifications
- Actuarial background (optional but beneficial)

Experience

- 3–10 years of experience in Reinsurance (preferably Treaty).
- Experience in general insurance/reinsurance companies or brokers.
