nRole Overview:
nThe department head (HOD) has the sole responsibility of running the academic programs of a department successfully. He/she has to follow the set rules and standards of the University in the delivery of the program. He/she reports to the Dean/ Director of the school. He/she has the following duties and responsibilities.

- To act as the administrative and academic head of the department in executing the teaching and learning aspects of the department.n
- To take advice/sanction from the dean for implementation of academic,



co-curricular and extracurricular activities.n
- To assign duties to teaching and non-teaching staff of the department in consultation with the dean/director.n
- To ensure allocation of workload (teaching load and practical load) to all faculty members and technical non-teaching staff with the help of the academic coordinator.n
- To co-ordinate with the teaching and non-teaching staff of the department for smooth function of conduction of academic, co-curricular and extracurricular activities of the department.n
- To present the department/program budget/requirement to the dean.n
- To take the lesson plan from the faculty members and to ensure they follow the plan and syllabus is completed in the stipulated time.n
- To ensure smooth conduct of examinations including paper setting, assessment of theory and lab.n
- To ensure quality, maintenance and cleanliness of the department.n
