Role & responsibilities

- Prepare the operation theatre before scheduled surgeries.
- Ensure all ophthalmic instruments, equipment, and consumables are available, sterile, and functioning properly.
- Assist ophthalmologists during cataract, glaucoma, retina, cornea, squint, oculoplasty, and other eye surgeries.
- Maintain strict aseptic and infection control protocols.
- Verify patient identity, surgical site, informed consent, and pre-operative checklist.
- Prepare patients for surgery and provide emotional support and reassurance.
- Monitor patients during surgical procedures and assist in immediate post-operative care.
- Handle, count, and document surgical instruments, needles, and swabs according to hospital policy.

Preferred candidate profile

- 13 years of OT nursing experience, preferably in an eye hospital.
- Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) or B.Sc. Nursing.
- Valid nursing registration with the appropriate Nursing Council.
