Role & responsibilities

- Formulation Design and Development: To engineer materials with specific properties and performance characteristics tailored for their intended applications in these diverse fields. It involves a systemic approach to selecting and combining various raw materials pigments, binders, solvent, additives, etc.) in precise ratios to achieve desired outcomes.
- Experimental Research and Analysis: To systematically investigate, evaluate and understand the behaviour and performance characteristics of coatings for fireproofing, flooring materials, admixtures, formulations for waterproofing etc under various controlled conditions. To generate crucial data needed to support formulation design, product development, quality control and regulatory compliance.
- Product Development and Scale-Up Support: To translate successful laboratory-scale formulations and research findings into viable, commercially manufacturable products while maintaining their desired performance and cost effectiveness.
- Technical Support and Collaboration: To provide expert knowledge, guidance, and collaborative partnerships to internal and external stakeholders to ensure the successful application, performance and understanding of these products. To act as a link between product development, sales, marketing, customers and regulatory bodies.
- Intellectual Property and Documentation: To protect the companys innovations and knowledge while ensuring clear, accurate and accessible information about their products and processes combined with safeguarding proprietary assets and managing crucial technical and legal information
- Safety and Regulatory Compliance: To ensure that the products are developed, manufactured a manner that protects human health, safety and the environment applicable laws, regulations, standards, and guidelines.

Key deliverables

- New Formulation Development

Deliver robust, high-performance formulations for coatings, flooring,

waterproofing, and fire-protection applications.

Ensure that all formulations meet required mechanical, chemical,

environmental, and application performance benchmarks.

Maintain a development pipeline that includes prototypes, improvements, and

cost-optimized alternatives.

- Experimental Planning & Testing Execution

Design structured experimental plans to validate new concepts, troubleshoot

issues, and optimize material performance.

Generate reliable, repeatable test data using analytical and physical testing

methods.

Provide clear conclusions and actionable recommendations based on data

trends.

- Product Optimization & Problem Solving

Resolve formulation challenges related to durability, application behaviour,

curing, defects, or field failures.

Continuously refine existing products for better cost, sustainability,

performance, ease of use,



or manufacturability.

Implement systematic root-cause analysis to eliminate recurring technical

issues.

- Scale-Up & Manufacturing Support

Translate successful lab formulations into scalable production processes.

Provide technical guidance during pilot trials and first-batch manufacturing.

Ensure that plant-scale output matches lab-scale expectations through

proactive troubleshooting.

- Technical Documentation & Reporting

Produce complete technical documentation, including formulation sheets, test

reports, specifications, and SOPs.

Maintain accurate laboratory records in compliance with internal standards and

audit requirements.

Present technical findings to internal stakeholders in a clear, structured manner.

- Cross-Functional Collaboration

Work with manufacturing, quality, procurement, sales, and marketing teams to

advance product development projects.

Provide technical insights that support product positioning, customer

discussions, or supplier evaluations.

Participate in cross-functional problem solving and continuous improvement

initiatives.

- Regulatory & Safety Compliance Support

Ensure that all raw materials and formulations comply with relevant

environmental, health, safety, and regulatory guidelines.

Support the preparation of SDS, product labels, compliance submissions, and

audit documentation.

Promote safe laboratory operations and contribute to risk assessments when

required.

- Customer & Application Support (Internal or External)

Support application trials, demonstrations, or troubleshooting activities with

internal teams or customers.

Provide guidance on substrate preparation, application methods, and expected

performance.

Translate field learnings into formulation improvements or recent development

opportunities.

- Innovation & Continuous Improvement

Identify opportunities for new technologies, sustainable solutions, and

competitive differentiation.

Evaluate new materials, suppliers, and processes that may enhance product

performance.

Contribute ideas that strengthen the companys technical leadership and

innovation pipeline.

- Intellectual Property Contribution

Identify unique technical advancements that may be patentable.

Support the preparation of patent disclosures or internal innovation records.

Protect company know-how through disciplined documentation and

confidentiality.





Preferred candidate profile

- BE in Paints Technology, MSc degree in chemistry/ Polymer Science or a related field.
- 5+ years of progressive and hands-on experience in research and development, with a significant focus on coatings /flooring applications. Experience in Adhesives/sealants is an added advantage.
- Extensive knowledge and practical experience in resins (epoxies, alkyds, polyesters,

polyurea, polyurethane) and curing systems involving chemistry, formulation, and application technologies.

- Demonstrated success in developing water-based and low-VOC formulations for industrial or consumer applications.

- Strong understanding of alkyd resin chemistry and experience with the development of

foam-based systems for relevant applications.

- Proven ability to integrate sustainability principles into product development and a strong

understanding of green chemistry concepts.

- Significant experience in developing fire-retardant or fire-stopping formulations and a

thorough understanding of relevant Indian and international testing standards.

- In-depth knowledge of concrete protection technologies and performance requirements for

various flooring applications.

- Advanced proficiency in utilizing a wide range of laboratory equipment and analytical

techniques.

- Exceptional problem-solving, analytical, and experimental design skills, with the ability to

interpret complex data.

- Excellent communication (written and verbal) and presentation abilities, with the capacity

to convey technical information clearly and concisely.

- Proven ability to lead projects, work independently, and collaborate effectively within

multidisciplinary teams.

- Comprehensive understanding of relevant Indian and international industry regulations and

standards related to chemical products and flooring applications.
