About the Role

Luminous Power Technologies is seeking an experienced and strategic Assistant General Manager (AGM) - Production to lead manufacturing operations at its Angul plant. The role is responsible for driving production excellence, operational efficiency, quality performance, cost optimization, safety compliance, and people development while ensuring alignment with the organization's business objectives.

The incumbent will play a critical leadership role in achieving production targets, implementing world-class manufacturing practices, and fostering a high-performance culture across the plant.

Key Responsibilities

Production & Operations Management

- Lead end-to-end production operations to achieve plant output, quality, delivery, and cost targets.
- Develop and execute production strategies aligned with annual business plans and customer demand requirements.
- Ensure optimum utilization of manpower, equipment, and resources to maximize productivity.
- Monitor plant capacity utilization and drive initiatives for throughput enhancement.
- Oversee daily, weekly, and monthly production planning and execution.

Operational Excellence

- Drive Lean Manufacturing, TPM, Kaizen, Six Sigma, and Continuous Improvement initiatives across the plant.
- Improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), productivity, and process efficiency.
- Lead cost reduction and value engineering projects to enhance profitability.
- Benchmark manufacturing practices and implement best-in-class operational processes.

Quality Management

- Ensure adherence to quality management systems and product specifications.
- Collaborate with Quality teams to reduce defects, rejection rates, customer complaints, and warranty failures.




- Drive corrective and preventive action (CAPA) initiatives through root cause analysis.

Safety, Health & Setting

- Establish and maintain a strong safety culture across operations.
- Ensure compliance with statutory regulations, environmental norms, and corporate EHS standards.
- Lead safety audits, risk assessments, and implementation of preventive measures.

People Leadership & Capability Building

- Lead, mentor, and develop production managers, engineers, supervisors, and shop-floor teams.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, discipline, and continuous learning.
- Drive talent development, succession planning, and employee engagement initiatives.
- Build high-performing teams to support future business growth.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

- Partner with Supply Chain, Maintenance, Quality, Procurement, Industrial Engineering, and HR teams to ensure seamless plant operations.
- Support new product introductions, plant expansion projects, and process automation initiatives.
- Participate in strategic business reviews and operational planning discussions.

Educational Qualifications

- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Production, Industrial Engineering, or related discipline.
- MBA/PGDM in Operations Management will be an added advantage.

Experience

- 12-18 years of relevant manufacturing experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Experience in Battery Manufacturing, Electrical Equipment, Automotive, Consumer Durables, Electronics, Process Industries, or similar sectors preferred.
- Proven experience managing large-scale production teams and manufacturing operations.
