Fire & Safety Officer — Industrial Electrification & DG Installation Reports To: Project Manager | Location: Client Site (travel required)
Role Purpose Ensure safe execution of industrial electrification and diesel generator installation work at client premises by enforcing safety standards, monitoring compliance, and mitigating risks to people, equipment, and property.
- Key Responsibilities Conduct site-specific risk assessments and HIRA before work begins.
- Implement Safety Plans, Method Statements, and Permit-to-Work systems (hot work, height, lifting, LOTO).
- Maintain all EHS requirements for electrical and mechanical installation work during site execution.
- Monitor high-risk activities — lifting, electrical connections, fuel handling, and mechanical assembly.
- Conduct daily toolbox talks and safety briefings for workers and contractors.
- Inspect PPE, tools, and lifting gear; enforce corrective actions on violations.
- Supervise safe diesel fuel storage and transfer to prevent fire and spill hazards.
- Coordinate with project engineers and client representatives on safety matters.
- Investigate and report near misses, incidents, and unsafe conditions.
- Maintain safety checklists, inspection reports, HIRA, and compliance records.
- Ensure emergency preparedness — firefighting, first aid, and evacuation drills.
Authority: Empowered to stop any unsafe work until hazards are controlled.
- Qualifications & Skills Diploma/Degree in Engineering or Occupational Health & Safety.
- 2–3 years' experience in electrical/mechanical installation projects.
- Solid knowledge of diesel generator systems and associated hazards.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills to drive safety culture.
- NEBOSH certification preferred.
