Job Title Assistant Container SurveyorDepartment Container Depot Maintenance RepairReports To Senior Container Surveyor Survey SupervisorJob Summary The Assistant Container Surveyor assists in inspecting assessing and reporting the condition of shipping containers to ensure they meet customer regulatory and industry standards This role supports senior surveyors in damage estimation repair authorization and quality control contributing to productive container maintenance operations Key Responsibilities 1 Inspection Surveying Assist in conducting physical inspections of containers dry reefer or tank units upon arrival and before release Identify and record damages corrosion structural defects or contamination issues Take accurate measurements photos and notes to support repair estimation and reporting Ensure all surveys are performed in compliance with IICL ISO CSC and customer-specific standards 2 Estimation Documentation Support the preparation of damage reports repair estimates and repair codes using approved software or manual forms Assist in categorizing damages as customer chargeable carrier repair or warranty-related Maintain detailed records of inspections and repair approvals for audit and reference 3 Quality Assurance Verify that completed repairs meet approved standards before releasing the container Report discrepancies or poor workmanship to the Senior Surveyor or Foreman Ensure consistent application of repair codes and cost estimation methods 4 Coordination Communication Coordinate with repair teams surveyors and depot operations to ensure smooth workflow Communicate container condition and repair requirements to supervisors and customers when required Support customer audits inspections and technical evaluations as needed 5 Safety Compliance Follow depot safety procedures and wear required PPE at all times Report unsafe practices or potential hazards promptly Support environmental and quality management initiatives in the depot Qualifications Experience Technical or vocational certificate in mechanical marine or industrial engineering preferred Minimum 1-3 years of experience in container inspection repair or a related field Basic knowledge of IICL repair standards ISO container structures and CSC regulations Ability to identify common container defects and understand repair codes Proficiency with computers especially MS Excel and container depot management or estimation systems e g CEDEX EIR or Depot Software Skills Competencies Attention to detail and accuracy in inspection and reporting Good communication and teamwork skills Basic understanding of welding metalwork and container construction Strong organizational and time-management skills Willingness to work in outdoor environments and under varying weather conditions Working Conditions Primarily outdoor work in container depots ports or terminal yards Exposure to noise dust and weather elements Must adhere to safety standards and use appropriate protective gear Career Progression With experience and training the Assistant Container Surveyor can advance to Container Surveyor Senior Surveyor or Maintenance Repair Supervisor positions Job Type Full-time Application Question s Are you willing to relocate to qatar do you have passport Experience assistant container surveyor 2 years Required Work Location In person
