Highly skilled and experienced Senior Software Engineer with a strong background in IBM Mainframe technologies Should have over 7 years of hands-on experience in mainframe development particularly in COBOL JCL and VSAM and a solid understanding of the banking domain This role demands a detail-oriented professional who can contribute to the design development and maintenance of critical banking applications Work closely with customers business analysts and team members to understand business requirements that drive analysis and design of quality technical solutions ensuring alignment with business and IT strategies and complying with FIS architectural standards What you bring - Provides application software development services or technical support typically in a defined project Develops program logic for new applications or analyzes and modifies logic in existing applications Design and develop robust scalable mainframe solutions by writing efficient COBOL programs and leveraging JCL and VSAM for data management Demonstrate a strong understanding of mainframe architecture FIS systems if applicable and core banking operations Maintains tests and integrates application components Makes recommendations towards the development of new code or reuse of existing code Ensures system improvements are successfully implemented Analyzes requirements and translates business requirements into product designs Writes technical specifications and other forms of documentation Suggests technical alternatives and improves streamlines processes and systems Completes project assignments and special projects commensurate with job expectations Conducts planning analysis and forecasting activities to plan projects and tasks May participate in component and data architecture design performance monitoring product evaluation and buy vs build recommendations May provide leadership and or guidance to other technical professionals Perform other related duties as assigned contributing to the overall success of the team and organization A Bachelor s degree in computer engineering computer science or other related discipline or the equivalent combination of education training or work experience Knowledge of FIS products and services in-depth knowledge of products and services in assigned line s of business In-depth understanding of IBM Mainframe Application Knowledge of financial services industry Knowledge of end-to-end systems development life cycles e g waterfall iterative and other modern approaches to software development Knowledge of standards relevant to the software industry e g ISO CMM Six Sigma Knowledge of banking practices regulations and operations within assigned line s of business Outstanding verbal and written communication skills to technical and non-technical audiences of various levels in the organization e g executive management individual contributors Excellent analytical decision-making problem-solving team and time management skills Ability to persuade and influence others on the best approach to take Ability to estimate work effort for project sub-plans or small projects and ensure the project is successfully completed Positive outlook strong work ethic and responsive to internal and external clients and contacts Product Knowledge IBM Mainframe Required Technical Skills COBOL JCL VSAM Optional Skills Good to Have DYL280 Easytrieve Sort Utility Domain Expertise Banking What we offer you A multifaceted job with a high degree of responsibility and a broad spectrum of opportunities A broad range of professional education and personal development possibilities -
