Role Overview : : We are seeking a versatile and skilled Cloud and Application Support Engineer to join our technical infrastructure team. The primary responsibility of this role is to ensure the stability, integrity, and productive operation of the "Curiosity" application, a container-based solution hosted on Microsoft Azure. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in Linux administration, containerization technologies like Podman/Docker, and broad experience with the Azure cloud platform. In addition to supporting the core application, this role will provide technical support for various integrated database systems and automation tools, requiring knowledge of SQL, Python, and Windows Server administration.
The professional will be responsible for:
Responsibility
Manage and troubleshoot the Curiosity application, a containerized (Podman) solution running on Azure Linux servers.
Investigate container logs, diagnose service failures, and perform root cause analysis.
Execute application version upgrades and install vendor-provided patches, including editing configuration files and managing container images.
Perform routine Linux administration tasks, including disk space management, performance monitoring, and creating automated alerts for container services.
Manage and troubleshoot core application services (VIP services) running on Azure Windows VMs.
Apply patches to Windows services and maintain PowerShell-based monitoring scripts.
Understand and manage the application's connectivity to its backend databases, including a local Postgres SQL instance and Azure SQL Server (PaaS).
Assist in troubleshooting data access and performance issues for jobs reading from or writing to backend databases.
Support the configuration and management of on-premise SQL Server instances hosted on Azure VMs.
