Clinical Duties:
- Conduct outpatient consultations for general ophthalmic and cataract patients.
- Perform detailed eye examinations, including slit-lamp, refraction, and fundus evaluations.
- Diagnose and manage various eye conditions, with a focus on age-related cataracts.
- Counsel patients regarding cataract surgery, lens options (monofocal, multifocal, toric), and expected outcomes.
- Perform minor procedures in OPD as needed (e.g., IOP measurement, lacrimal syringing, etc.).
- Refer surgical candidates to the OT or schedule accordingly.
- Post-operative follow-up and management of cataract patients.
Surgical Responsibilities (if applicable):
- Perform cataract surgeries (phacoemulsification/SICS) as per schedule.
- Ensure pre-op and post-op care is appropriately documented and managed.
Administrative and Support:
- Maintain proper OPD documentation in EMR or paper formats.
- Coordinate with optometrists, nursing staff, and counsellors for seamless patient care.
- Participate in patient education initiatives and outreach cataract screening camps.
- Adhere to institutional protocols, quality standards, and medico-legal compliance.
Qualifications:
- MBBS with MS/DO/DNB in Ophthalmology.
- Valid Medical Council registration.
- Experience in cataract diagnosis and management is mandatory.
- Phacoemulsification surgical experience preferred (if surgical role included).
Skills Required:
- Solid clinical and diagnostic skills.
- Patient counseling and communication.
- Team collaboration and leadership (if senior role).
- EMR familiarity and documentation skills.
