As a Voyage Optimization Analyst at BSM, you will support productive and safe vessel operations by analysing voyage data, developing optimisation strategies, and collaborating with operational teams. You will identify opportunities to reduce voyage costs, improve fuel efficiency and ensure schedule reliability while maintaining compliance with company policies and international maritime standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyse voyage plans, historical voyage performance and weather-routing data to identify optimisation opportunities and support decision-making
- Develop and maintain voyage optimisation models and tools to evaluate alternative routing, speed profiles and bunkering strategies
- Collaborate with chartering, operations and technical teams to implement voyage plans that balance cost, time and safety considerations
- Monitor fuel consumption, emissions and voyage KPIs; prepare regular reports and recommendations to stakeholders
- Assess weather, sea state and port congestion information to advise on route adjustments and contingency planning
- Support bid and voyage costing processes by providing accurate estimates of voyage expenses and time of arrival impacts
- Maintain and validate voyage databases, ensuring data quality and consistency across systems
- Assist in the development and delivery of training and guidance on voyage optimisation tools and best practices
- Ensure compliance with company procedures and relevant maritime regulations when recommending operational changes
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in maritime studies, nautical science, marine engineering, logistics, mathematics, data science or related discipline
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in voyage planning, operations analysis, chartering support or a related maritime role
- Proven experience with voyage optimisation, weather routing or fuel efficiency initiatives
- Familiarity with maritime regulations and industry frameworks related to voyage planning and emissions
