Role Summary

The Jr Electrical Design Engineer will support the design and engineering of utility substations and switchyards ranging from 11 kV to 132 kV. The role includes preparing electrical drawings, protection schemes, earthing layouts, cable schedules, BOQs, and technical documentation while ensuring compliance with applicable IS, IEC, IEEE, and CEA standards.

Key Responsibilities

Substation & Switchyard Design
- Prepare Single Line Diagrams (SLDs) for HT/LT substations and switchyards.
- Develop substation and switchyard layout drawings.
- Prepare control and schematic wiring diagrams.
- Perform equipment selection, busbar sizing, and short-circuit withstand calculations.
- Prepare HT/LT cable sizing calculations and cable schedules.

Protection & Relay Engineering
- Prepare protection philosophy documents.
- Develop relay setting calculations.
- Prepare relay logic, tripping matrix, and interlocking schemes.
- Support preparation of protection panel drawings.

Earthing & Lightning Protection
- Design substation earthing systems as per IS 3043 and IEEE 80.




- Prepare earthing layouts and earth pit drawings.
- Design lightning protection systems as per IEC 62305.

Civil & Structural Coordination
- Coordinate transformer foundations, cable trenches, and duct banks.
- Prepare cable routing layouts.
- Coordinate with civil and structural engineering teams.

BOQ & Documentation
- Prepare BOQs and material schedules.
- Develop technical specifications.
- Review vendor drawings and datasheets.
- Maintain drawing registers and revision records.

Requirements
Diploma, B.E., or B.Tech in Electrical Engineering.
1–3 years of experience in Substation or Switchyard Design.
Experience in HT/LT substations (11 kV, 33 kV, 66 kV, or 132 kV).
Experience in utility, power transmission, or power distribution projects.
Knowledge of protection systems and relay engineering.
Experience in cable sizing, earthing design, and BOQ preparation.
Hands-on experience with AutoCAD Electr
