Summary: The SOC L1 Analyst is responsible for the first line of defense in
monitoring, analyzing, and responding to security incidents within an
organization's IT workplace. This role involves real-time threat detection,
triage, and initial incident response to ensure the security and integrity of
information systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor Security Alerts:
- Continuously monitor security
tools (SIEM, IDS/IPS, firewalls, antivirus, etc.) for security events and
alerts.
- Identify and assess the severity
of security incidents.
Incident Triage and Initial
Response:
- Perform initial investigation
and triage of security incidents to determine the nature and impact.
- Escalate incidents to SOC L2
analysts or other relevant teams as necessary.
- Document and report incidents
following established procedures.
Threat Analysis:
- Analyze and correlate security
events from various sources to identify potential threats.
- Maintain awareness of the latest
cyber threats, vulnerabilities, and attack vectors.
Incident Documentation:
- Maintain detailed records of
security incidents, actions taken, and outcomes.
- Prepare and present incident
reports and findings to senior analysts and management.
Collaboration:
- Work closely with other SOC team
members and IT departments to coordinate response activities.
- Provide support during incident
investigations and threat hunting activities.
Compliance and Reporting:
- Adhere to organizational
security policies, procedures, and compliance requirements.
- Participate in regular audits
and reviews of security operations.
Continuous Improvement:
- Suggest improvements to enhance
the efficiency and effectiveness of SOC operations.
- Participate in training and
development activities to keep up-to-date with cybersecurity trends and
best practices.
Working Conditions:
- The role may require shift work,
including nights, weekends, and holidays to ensure 24/7 coverage of the
SOC.
