Why you:

This role sits on one of the largest database estates in the world, supporting one of our biggest clients — the kind of scale most infrastructure engineers never get direct access to. Changes made here don't touch one system, they touch a fleet, so the impact of positive (and bad) engineering is outsized.

We're looking for an infrastructure/DevOps engineer to own the AWS platform our clients' RDS and Aurora databases run on — not the databases' internals. You'll manage the Terraform and CI/CD pipeline (GitLab, Harness) that provisions them, maintain the supporting tooling that handles user and schema management, and be the escalation point when a team's Terraform, pipeline, or process has gone wrong. A big part of the job is making that go wrong less often: improving documentation, and building out the tooling that automatically routes support queries to the right place instead of everything landing on-call.

What you will be doing:

Support & Troubleshooting:
Act as the escalation point when clients or internal teams break their Terraform, break their pipeline, or don't follow documented process — diagnose the actual problem and get them unblocked.
Write clear Root Cause Analysis (RCA) reports for significant incidents.

Infrastructure & Automation:
Build and maintain Terraform for provisioning AWS database infrastructure (RDS/Aurora), and the GitLab/Harness pipelines that deploy it.
Maintain the supporting tooling that manages database users and schemas, ensuring it stays correctly integrated with the databases it manages.
Automate recurring operational work with Python or Go.
Apply AWS security best practices — IAM roles, KMS
