Orbit & Skyline is looking forward to onboarding a diligent NPI Process Engineer to remotely support the manufacturing and QA departments in developing robust manufacturing processes for new parts. This role will be crucial in taking a new part drawing from concept to production efficiently and cost-effectively, utilizing quality and reliability principles.
Wondering what your Responsibilities would be
- Work with manufacturing and QA teams to review new part drawings and identify potential manufacturability concerns.
- Analyze part complexity, tolerances, and material specifications to determine the most appropriate manufacturing processes for prototyping and production phases.
- Utilize quality engineering and reliability techniques like FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) and DFMEA (Design FMEA) to identify and mitigate potential quality risks during the design and manufacturing stages.
- Develop and implement a streamlined NPI process that minimizes design cycle time and reduces overall costs.
- Continuously improve the NPI process through data analysis and feedback from internal teams.
- Create process flow charts for new parts, outlining the sequence of manufacturing operations.
- Develop detailed operation sheets, including input materials, processing steps, outputs, and quality control points.
- Select appropriate equipment and machinery for each manufacturing process, considering factors like capacity, capability, and cost.
- Design production layouts optimizing workflow and minimizing material handling.
- Develop routing sheets outlining the movement of parts between operations.
- Specify tooling requirements for each process, ensuring compatibility and part quality.
- Design inspection plans for both in-process and final quality control, utilizing appropriate gauges and measurement techniques.
- Collaborate with the manufacturing and QA teams to ensure explicit communication and successful implementation of developed processes.
