- Primary Responsibilities:
- Core SDET Responsibilities (Tool-Agnostic)
- Quality Engineering & Test Strategy
- Translate business requirements into testable acceptance criteria; define test strategy across unit, API, UI, and end-to-end (E2E)
- Build a risk-based test plan focusing on business-critical flows, edge cases, and negative scenarios
- Establish shift-left practices: collaborate with developers to add unit/integration tests early; advocate testability in design (IDs, accessibility,
deterministic APIs)
- Automation & Frameworks
- Design and maintain modular, maintainable automation frameworks (page object or screen-play pattern, data-driven tests, fixtures, utilities)
- Implement parallel test execution, selective test runs (tags), and stable waits to minimize flakiness
- Integrate with CI/CD (GitHub Actions/Azure DevOps/Jenkins): test gating, environment provisioning, artifacts (videos, HAR, screenshots), and reporting
- Quality Signals & Observability
- Own quality metrics: coverage %, pass rate, mean time to detect (MTTD), mean time to repair (MTTR), failure classification (test vs product)
- Instrument test telemetry: capture logs, network traces, performance timings, accessibility checks; publish dashboards

- Provision test environments (Docker/Azure containers), seed synthetic test data, manage test accounts, stub/mocks for third-party integrations
