Senior Software Engineer – Video Playback (Frontend HTML5)

Role Summary
You will collaborate with subject matter experts and video specialists to design, build, and optimise playback experiences across Android TV devices using a hybrid platform combining native Android (ExoPlayer) and HTML5 WebView-based UI technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and implement connected / living room devices solutions to enhance network handling, ABR algorithms, and playback resiliency using ExoPlayer/ Shaka and related technologies.
Optimise playback performance, startup time, buffering behaviour, and video quality across a wide range of connected / living room devices
Collaborate with frontend and platform teams to ensure seamless interaction between WebView UI and native playback components.

Participate in debugging and resolving complex playback issues across diverse device ecosystems and partner implementations
Required Qualifications:
Skilled software engineering experience with a strong delivery track record in consumer-facing applications
Strong expertise in frontend engineering HTML5, JS / TS.
Hands-on experience with ExoPlayer, MediaCodec, and DRM technologies such as Widevine
Experience working with hybrid applications combining native Android components and HTML5/WebView-based UIs
Familiarity with integrating JavaScript interfaces or bridging mechanisms between WebView and native
