Position: Research Engineer I

Position Summary

The candidate will work closely with competency and business R&D; teams to characterize a wide range of materials and products across Saint-Gobain businesses, with an initial focus on abrasives, performance ceramics, and refractories. The role involves developing characterization methodologies, building technical know-how, and establishing structure–process–performance relationships through scientific analysis. The candidate will also support manufacturing plants through process understanding, quality investigations, and resolution of business and customer-related technical challenges.

The candidate must possess

Solid fundamentals in ceramics, metals and alloy systems, with a good understanding of the relationship between processing, microstructure, and material properties.
Hands-on experience with materials characterization techniques such as SEM (including TTSEM), optical microscopy, XRD, and surface/topography analysis.




Basic knowledge of sample preparation methods for powders, coated surfaces, and solid materials.
Ability to analyze data using Excel/statistical tools
