Job Summary

The Biomedical Engineer will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting, and management of medical and ophthalmic equipment across the hospital. The role requires close coordination with clinical teams, vendors, and hospital administration to ensure maximum equipment uptime, patient safety, regulatory compliance, and uninterrupted clinical operations.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Responsibilities
- Install, commission, test, and validate medical and ophthalmic equipment.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance of biomedical equipment.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and coordinate timely repairs.
- Ensure proper calibration and performance verification of equipment as per prescribed schedules.
- Maintain equipment inventory, maintenance records, calibration certificates, and service documentation.
- Monitor equipment performance and ensure mínimal downtime.
- Conduct routine inspections to ensure equipment safety and operational efficiency.
- Provide technical support to doctors, optometrists, nurses,



and clinical staff regarding equipment usage.

Equipment Management
- Manage and maintain ophthalmic equipment such as OCT, Fundus Camera, Phaco Machine, Operating Microscope, Auto Refractometer, Lensometer, A-Scan, B-Scan, Keratometer, Perimetry, and Lasers.
- Coordinate with vendors for AMC/CMC activities, warranty management, and service support.
- Assist in procurement, technical evaluation, installation, and acceptance testing of recent equipment.
- Maintain equipment history sheets and asset management records.

Quality & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with NABH standards and hospital biomedical equipment management protocols.
- Participate in internal audits, accreditation activities, and quality improvement initiatives.
