ABOUT THE ROLE

We're hiring an ED Facility Coder to code Emergency Department and Observation encounters. This is a facility coding role, not physician/skilled coding — you'll be assigning ED levels, resource-based codes, and facility E/M based on nursing documentation and chart review.

- Ambulatory / Outpatient facility coding

- CPT ED E/M Levels: 99281–99285, Critical Care 99291–99292
- CPT Observation: 99217–99220, 99224–99226
- CPT Minor Procedures:



Laceration repair 12001–13160, Splinting/casting 29000–29799
- CPT Injections/Infusions: 96360–96379
- CPT Diagnostics: ECG 93000–93010, X-ray/Radiology 70000–79999
- HCPCS Level II: G0378/G0379 (observation), J-codes (drugs), A-codes (supplies)
- Modifiers: 25, 27, 59/X{EPSU}, RT/LT, 76/77, 91

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assign accurate ED levels and facility E/M codes based on resource-based coding guidelines
- Review nursing documentation and physician charts to abstract diagnoses and procedures
- Code injections/infusions, IV push/hydration, ECG, X-ray, and minor procedures
- Apply correct ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS Level II codes with appropriate modifiers
- Perform charge capture and ensure documentation supports code assignment
- Maintain coding accuracy and compliance with CMS/payer guidelines

NICE TO HAVE
- 3M, Cerner, or Epic experience

CERTIFICATION
- CPC (AAPC) required
- CCS / CCA a plus
