Job Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day heat treatment operations for forged components.
- Handle processes such as Normalizing, Annealing, Hardening, Tempering, Quenching and Stress Relieving.
- Set and monitor furnace temperature, heating time, soaking time and cooling parameters.
- Ensure required hardness, mechanical properties and microstructure are achieved.
- Monitor heat treatment quality and minimize rejection, rework and defects.
- Troubleshoot issues related to hardness variation, cracks, distortion and improper heat treatment.
- Maintain heat treatment process sheets, furnace charts and batch records.
- Coordinate with Production, Quality and Maintenance departments.
- Ensure proper operation and maintenance of furnaces, quenching systems and related equipment.
- Conduct root-cause analysis for heat treatment failures and implement corrective actions.
- Train and supervise heat treatment operators and ensure SOP compliance.
- Ensure adherence to quality and safety standards.
Required Skills
- Strong practical knowledge of heat treatment of forged components.
- Knowledge of carbon steel and alloy steel.
- Good understanding of hardness testing and microstructure.
- Experience in furnace operation and process parameter control.
- Positive problem-solving and team-handling skills.
- Experience in forging / automotive / engineering industry preferred.
Qualification: Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech. in Mechanical, Metallurgy or related field.
