Job Purpose

To manage and maintain the hospital library, ensure systematic organization and availability of books, journals, reference materials and digital resources, and provide library support to doctors, nurses, employees, students and other authorized users.Key Responsibilities

1. Manage the day-to-day operations of the hospital library.

2. Maintain and organize books, medical journals, reference materials, periodicals and other library resources.

3. Classify, catalogue and arrange library materials systematically for easy identification and retrieval.

4. Maintain records of books, journals, subscriptions and other library resources.

5. Issue and return books and other library materials as per hospital library rules.

6. Maintain proper records of library users, issue/return transactions and overdue materials.

7. Assist doctors, nurses, students and staff in locating relevant books, journals and reference materials.

8. Coordinate subscriptions and renewals of medical journals,



publications and other required resources.

9. Maintain digital/e-library resources and assist users in accessing online reference materials, wherever applicable.

10. Monitor the condition of library materials and arrange repair or replacement when required.

11. Maintain a suitable and organized library workplace conducive to reading and learning.

12. Prepare periodic reports regarding library utilization, resources, subscriptions and requirements.

13. Maintain confidentiality of institutional and user-related information.

14. Coordinate with departments for identification of new books, journals and reference materials required for professional and academic purposes.

15. Maintain records of new acquisitions, obsolete materials and disposed library resources as per hospital policy.
