Role Purpose

To take ownership of the company’s year-end financial reporting and UK corporation tax compliance, ensuring statutory accounts, tax returns, and payments are accurate, compliant, and submitted on time. The role acts as the key link between the business, external accountants, and HMRC.

Key Responsibilities

Year-End Accounts
- Prepare or oversee preparation of
statutory accounts
in accordance with UK GAAP (FRS 102 / FRS 105 as applicable)
- Ensure accounting records are complete and accurate at year end
- Manage year-end close process, including accruals, prepayments, and reconciliations




- Review and approve final accounts prior to director sign-off
- Coordinate filing of accounts with
Companies House

Corporation Tax
- Prepare or coordinate preparation of the
CT600 Corporation Tax return
- Calculate corporation tax liabilities and ensure timely payment
- Prepare supporting tax computations and iXBRL submissions
- Identify and apply:
- Allowable expenses
- Capital allowances
- Loss relief
- Group relief (where relevant)
- Act as main point of contact for
HMRC
on corporation tax matters
- Support HMRC queries, compliance checks, or enquiries

Liaison & Governance
- Work closely with external accountants and tax advisers
- Ensure directors understand financial and tax positions
- Maintain compliance with statutory deadlines and filing requirements
- Support audit processes where applicable
- Ensure robust internal controls and documentation are in place
