Key Responsibilities
- Review client documents including W-2s, 1099s, 1098s, K-1s, brokerage statements, and financial records
- Prepare individual tax returns (Form 1040) with applicable schedules
- Assist in preparation of business tax returns (Forms 1120, 1120S, and 1065)
- Enter and manage financial data in tax software
- Reconcile income sources such as wages, interest, dividends, and capital gains
- Handle applicable foreign reporting (Forms 2555, 8938, FBAR)
- Identify missing or inconsistent information and raise client queries
- Resolve software diagnostics and validation errors
Maintain organized, indexed, and well-documented workpapers aligned with compliance standards
- Support review and finalize returns for e-filing
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting (B.Com, M.Com, or equivalent)
- 2–3 years of experience in U.S. tax preparation
- Robust knowledge of U.S. individual and business taxation
- Experience with tax software (Drake, ProSeries, Lacerte, UltraTax, ProConnect)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Strong analytical and research aptitude
- High attention to detail with strong concentration and focus
Preferred Skills
- Experience working with U.S. CPA firms
- Knowledge of foreign reporting and multi-state taxation
- Familiarity with U.S. tax compliance and documentation standards
