Job Description – P-Way Estimator
Position: P-Way Estimator / Asst. Manager
Department: Estimation / Commercial

Experience: 8–10 years
Qualification: Diploma/B.E./B.Tech. in Civil Engineering preferred
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed P-Way (Permanent Way) estimates for railway track construction, maintenance, and related works.
- Study tender documents, BOQ, drawings, specifications, and scope of work.
- Prepare quantity take-offs for rails, sleepers, fittings, ballast, points & crossings, earthwork, formation, etc.
- Prepare rate analysis and cost estimates based on applicable SOR, market rates, labour, material, machinery, and transportation costs.
- Prepare BOQ, BBS/quantity statements, material requirement statements, and comparative statements.
- Assist in preparation of tender estimates and commercial proposals.
- Review quantities against drawings and identify discrepancies, omissions, and variations.
- Coordinate with the Design, Planning, Procurement, Execution,
and Commercial teams for accurate estimation.
- Prepare estimates for additional works, deviation statements, variation orders, and extra items.
- Analyse subcontractor/vendor quotations and support commercial negotiations.
- Maintain proper records of estimates, rate analysis, supporting documents, and revisions.
- Visit project sites, wherever required, to verify actual site conditions and quantities.
- Support the Project Manager and Commercial team in cost monitoring and billing-related activities.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of Railway P-Way works and track construction methodology.
- Valuable knowledge of railway specifications, RDSO standards, IRUSSOR/SOR and tender conditions.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and AutoCAD; knowledge of estimation software will be an advantage.
- Good understanding of BOQ preparation, rate analysis, quantity surveying, and costing.
- Ability to read and interpret P-Way drawing
