Role Overview
- We are looking for a Data Engineer with 5+ years of experience to join our healthcare data team.
- You will be responsible for building and maintaining the pipelines that power our clinical analytics and products.
- This role is perfect for a high-performing engineer who is an expert in SQL/Python and is ready to take ownership of complex ETL/ELT workflows while ensuring strict HIPAA/FHIR compliance.

What You'll Do
- Data Engineering & Pipeline Development Build & Scale: Develop high-volume ETL/ELT pipelines to ingest data from EHRs, REST APIs, and flat files into our central data warehouse.
- Advanced SQL: Write and optimize complex transforms using CTEs and window functions; perform query tuning using EXPLAIN/ANALYZE and partitioning strategies.
- Automation: Orchestrate workflows using Apache Airflow, implementing robust retries, error handling, and SLA alerting.
- Code Quality: Write production-grade Python for data validation frameworks and custom ingestion utilities.
- Data Modeling & Architecture Execution Schema Design:



Implement and maintain dimensional models (Star/Snowflake) and manage Slowly Changing Dimensions (SCDs).
- Standards: Follow and contribute to team coding standards, documentation, and peer code reviews.
- BI Support: Build and maintain governed semantic layers to support downstream analytics in tools like Tableau or PowerBI.
- Healthcare Interoperability & Compliance Clinical Mapping: Map complex clinical datasets (HL7 FHIR, claims) into curated analytics-ready layers.
- Security: Ensure all data movement adheres to HIPAA guidelines, including encryption-at-rest/in-transit and rigorous access controls.
- Operational Excellence CI/CD: Use GitHub and CI/CD pipelines to deploy data code reliably.
- Observability: Implement data quality checks and lineage tracking to ensure data freshness and accuracy.
