Purpose of the Position
The Senior Service Engineer is responsible for leading and executing field service activities on Wärtsilä 4-stroke marine engines worldwide. The role requires strong technical expertise, independent execution of complex assignments,
and professional customer engagement while ensuring the highest standards of safety, quality, and operational excellence.
Main Responsibilities
- Lead and execute maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, overhaul, commissioning, retrofit, and inspection activities on Wärtsilä 4-stroke engines and related auxiliary systems.
- Support vessel dry dockings, sea trials, performance optimization, and emergency breakdown attendance.
- Diagnose technical issues, perform root cause analysis, and recommend corrective actions.
- Lead small field service teams and provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers.
- Plan and coordinate service activities to ensure efficient use of manpower, tools, and spare parts.
- Act as Wärtsilä's technical representative at customer sites and maintain strong relationships with vessel operators, technical management, and shipyards.
