Job Summary
- Responsible for providing safe, compassionate and specialized nursing care to newborns, including premature, low-birth-weight and critically ill neonates, while maintaining high standards of patient safety and infection control.
- Key ResponsibilitiesProvide comprehensive nursing care to neonates admitted to the NICU.Monitor vital signs, oxygen saturation, temperature, respiratory status and other clinical parameters.
- Administer medications, IV fluids, injections and feeds as prescribed.Operate and monitor neonatal equipment such as incubators, ventilators/CPAP, infusion pumps, phototherapy units and patient monitors.
- Assist doctors during neonatal procedures and emergency situations, including resuscitation.Maintain strict aseptic techniques and follow infection-control protocols.
- Maintain accurate nursing records, medication charts, observation charts and other required documentation.
- Identify and promptly report changes in the baby's condition to the doctor/NICU in-charge.
- Provide appropriate feeding, hygiene and developmental care to neonates.Support and educate parents regarding neonatal care and treatment as appropriate.
- Ensure proper handover and effective communication with the healthcare team.Follow hospital policies, patient-safety standards and NICU protocols.
- Participate in quality improvement and training activities. Qualifications & Requirements
- B.Sc Nursing Minimum 1 year of experience in NICU.
- Positive knowledge of neonatal nursing procedures and infection-control practices.
- Ability to handle critically ill neonates and emergency situations.
- Good communication, teamwork and interpersonal skills.
- Compassionate, attentive and responsible approach to patient care.
